The 5,500-acre residential and resort community in southern Orange County is the largest security gated community in southern California. Our role as master landscape architect spanned from early development in 1987 through project build-out in 2005. Designed within a beautiful valley of oak woodland and scrub landscape, master planning and the landscape design embraced the natural setting which included preservation of oak woodland valleys and vast natural open spaces and included the relocation of nearly 500 mature oak trees. The project includes community entries, streetscape and common area design, restoration of sensitive habitats, fuel modification design, community and neighborhood park design. Our design responsibilities also included the highly acclaimed Coto de Caza Golf and Racquet Club with tennis, aquatic and health club facilities adjacent to two 18-hole Robert Trent Jones, Jr. designed championship golf courses.
